Our beloved mother, Beverly Bishop Smith, passed away peacefully in her home on September 1, 2018.  Born October 27, 1930 at home in Hinckley, Utah to Marion L. and Geneva Robinson Bishop.

After graduating from South High School in 1946, Beverly attended the University of Utah and LDS Business College.  She trained and swam competitively in the Amateur Athletics Union.  Beverly also loved music and sang in many ward choirs and was a talented pianist.

Married Bruce Smith on January 18, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple.  During their 60-year marriage, the family moved multiple times to several different states including, Alabama, Utah, California, New York and Texas.  Family was her dearest love and joy.  Beverly had a quick wit and loved to laugh.  She was patient and forgiving and wanted only to see the best in people.  Her greatest legacy is the kindness and service she gave to others throughout her lifetime.

Beverly was always up for adventure.  She loved joining her husband and kids on boating and camping trips, snow and water skiing, playing games and going for daily walks and bike rides.  She was a hard worker, talented seamstress and artful homemaker.  Throughout her life, Beverly was a kid at heart and often said she was happiest when playing and spending time with each new generation that joined the family.  At almost 80 years of age, she could be found jumping on the trampoline with great granddaughters and just weeks before she passed away was playing ‘catch’ with great grandsons from her wheelchair at home.

After her children were grown, Beverly earned a cosmetology license and was a popular and skilled hairdresser for many years.  She also worked for the Murray School District in their Media Center.

Beverly donated her time and talents as a hospital volunteer and serving in numerous callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints throughout her adult life.

Beverly is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husband, Bruce and one grandson, Scot.  She is survived by her six children, Teri, (John) Clarke, Craig (Allyson) Smith, Corey (Sybil) Smith, Cathy, (Jon) Bass, Eileen, (Joe) Christensen and Brad Smith.  She adored each of her 23 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 3 great, great grandsons.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to all of the Hospice Care providers who visited and served Beverly with gentle kindness these final months.  Also, the many acts of love and service from neighbors and ward members extended to Beverly, especially during her 6 years as a widow.  Beverly wanted very much to be able to stay in her own home during her final years of life.  Huge gratitude to her youngest son, Brad, for being the live-in support needed these last 19 months to allow that to happen.

Thank you, Mom, for your beautiful life and legacy, you will be loved and cherished always!
